Africa: Is Good Good Enough? | Sivan Ya’ari | TEDxTelAvivUniversity

Published on Feb 23, 2016 Innovation: Africa’s Founder and CEO shares her inspiring and personal story of how despite her poor upbringing and the many obstacles and mistakes she faced, she managed to transform the lives of people living in rural African villages with the help of one simple and yet cheap solution – solar energy. By harnessing the energy of the sun, she was able to transform nearly 1 million people’s lives with access to light, water, medical care and food for the first time. Her main message is that we can no longer ignore people’s suffering. We have the technology to eradicate poverty and make poverty part of our generation’s history. It is simple and inexpensive. We need to stand up and take initiative. It is in our hands.

Sivan Yaari is an energetic young woman that has already lived on four continents. But Africa is where she is fulfilling her vision that sounds unheard of: providing life to millions of African residents who live in the most remote villages on the continent. Yaari is the founder and CEO of Innovation: Africa, a non-profit organization that brings advanced Israeli technologies to the most remote areas in Africa, to create energy, pump water and grant them life.
